Trump is likely to be indicted on Tuesday

The Mueller investigation of alleged collusion between a former president Donald Trump and his wife, Stormy Daniels, a senior executive at the Trump Organization

Allen Weisselberg, the former chief financial officer of the Trump Organization currently incarcerated at Rikers Island, recently switched lawyers amid ongoing investigations into former President Donald Trump and his business.

If Weisselberg lied at the trial of the Trump entities, he would be put in jail for five months. Weisselberg admitted his guilt but he never implicated any of Trump’s family members.

Earlier this month, Trump was notified that he could be indicted on criminal charges related to a hush money payment made to silence adult-film star Stormy Daniels from going public ahead of the 2016 election about an alleged affair a decade earlier. Trump denied the affair.

The Trump Organization is facing a criminal investigation into its financial records, although it’s not known how active that inquiry is.

I don’t know that either. Alan Garten nor I had any role in Mr. Weisselberg’s decision to leave Nick Gravante nor his decision to hire Seth Rosenberg, whom Mr. Weisselberg and his family found without any input from Alan Garten or me,” she said.

The person with knowledge of the matter said that was still the case. officials blamed Weisselberg for the conviction. Weisselberg had been on the company payroll through the trial. He was let go in January and paid a generous severance, CNN previously reported.

As the company faces investigations into the accuracy of its financial statements, Weisselberg is under investigation for his role in obtaining insurance for the company, people familiar with the investigation have said. The prosecutors hope to get Weisselberg to help in the investigation, people said.

For nearly five years, confidential records have identified a continuing grand jury inquiry in Manhattan as “Investigation Into the Business and Affairs of John Doe.”

Mr. Bragg asked a new grand jury to hear evidence about Mr. Trump. The witnesses were called to testify about the hush money because Mr. Bragg’s finances weren’t an issue for the jury. The investigation had come full circle.

The federal prosecutors charged Mr. Cohen, and the office of the district attorney was asked to stand down while their own investigation was complete.

But prosecutors soon hit another obstacle. After they subpoenaed Mr. Trump’s tax returns and other financial records, he sued to prevent his accountants from producing the records.

By the end of 2021, Mr. Vance had authorized them to present evidence to a grand jury in hopes of securing an indictment, but his time was running out. He didn’t seek re- election and his replacement was set to take over on January 1. He had to make the call about indicting Mr. Trump.

The district attorney began to have doubts about whether he could prove that Mr. Trump intended to cheat the banks and insurance companies. He soon decided not to seek an indictment of Mr. Trump, prompting Mr. Pomerantz and Mr. Dunne to resign in protest.
